Focus stacking watches: how many frames is enough?
Shooting at f/8 on a 100mm macro. I have been taking 30 frames per watch out of paranoia. Is there a way to calculate the number I actually need?

Work out the depth of field at your aperture and magnification, then step by about 70% of that. For a watch at f/8 you are usually looking at 12 to 18 frames, not 30.
In my experience, if autofocus tracking and low light usability are your top priorities, the Sony a6700 is hard to beat. I've tested both sensors extensively and Sony's real-time eye AF handles fast movement much more consistently.
I had a similar issue when I started out. Setting custom white balance and using a solid travel tripod made a noticeable improvement.
